Frequently asked questions

In short

Saylo is building a private speech-practice necklace that helps kids work on therapist-selected sounds between sessions, without saving recordings. It’s in development, hasn’t been tested with children yet, and doesn’t replace a speech therapist.

Availability and who it’s for

Is Saylo available now?

No. Saylo is in development. Speech therapists get early access from spring 2027, families join a founding-family beta in summer 2027, and Saylo is planned to launch in early 2028.

Who is Saylo intended for?

Children about 6 to 8 who are working with a speech-language pathologist (SLP) on a speech sound, starting with R, and who can already make the sound in their sessions.

Does Saylo replace a speech therapist?

No. Saylo supports speech therapy; it doesn’t diagnose, screen for or treat speech conditions, and the therapist stays in charge of the plan.

Is Saylo designed for stuttering?

No. Saylo is designed for practising speech sounds, like R. It isn’t designed for stuttering or language difficulties.

Which sounds will Saylo support?

R first. S will be added only if a pilot with speech therapists shows Saylo can judge it accurately enough.

Privacy and recording

Does Saylo record children?

No. It’s designed to score each practice word on the device and discard the sound within a second or two. Only daily counts are kept. Privacy and safety.

Can children pause the necklace?

Yes. Holding the button for 2 seconds pauses it and turns the light off. Resuming takes a 3-second hold or a tap in the parent app.

Progress and therapists

How will parents see progress?

In the parent app: daily and weekly counts for each target sound (correct, error and unsure), when Saylo was paused, and a summary to share with the therapist. A kids’ app is optional.

What will therapists control?

The target sound, the practice words and their expected errors, when home practice starts, and the practice goals. Saylo for speech therapists.

Testing and joining

Has Saylo been tested with children?

Not yet. Its scoring has only been tried on synthetic voices, which isn’t clinical validation. We plan to compare it with several speech therapists’ ratings before launch. The research.

When is the planned beta?

Speech therapists get early access from spring 2027, and families join a founding-family beta in summer 2027. Launch is planned for early 2028.

How can a parent or therapist take part?

Join the waitlist and choose parent or speech therapist. Therapists can also say if they’d like to advise or take part in a pilot.

Is there an early sign-up discount?

Yes, for families: Join the waitlist before Saylo goes on sale and get $20 off one Saylo necklace bought in the first 30 days after launch. One per family; can’t be combined with other offers.
